I and the outreach team have been in Borneo for 5 days now, and we’ve had an incredible time thus far. You immediately know that you’re in a third world country when there’s scooters flying all around you and horns a blasting – it’s a tonne of fun. The YWAM base here in Borneo and it’s staff are incredible hosts – they’ve taken care of us so well. The food has been incredible and the scenery is amazing. Their base looks like a little piece of paradise. It’s incredibly tropical here and as you walk around the base it has the most beautiful tropical plants and trees everywhere.
Pontianak, the place where we are staying, is literally right on the equator. So far, our team has been teaching classes in a large school in the city every day. This Friday all that will change as we gear up for 4 weeks of adventurous outreach in the villages of the jungles of Borneo. YWAM Borneo’s vision is to plant 300 churches in the villages in Borneo!!! It’s an incredible vision and so far they’ve planted 40 churches!! Praise God! Our team will get a chance to break the spiritual ground in some new villages as well as preach, teach and disciple some of the churches they’ve already planted. We are ready for it!!! Showers in the river, sleeping under mosquito nets, many house visits and most importantly declaring that Jesus is Lord over Borneo!!!
We are so stoked to be here in Borneo serving with the YWAM base.
Until next time – Be blessed,
Kevin and the Pontianak outreach team.
